long time no post!
that's because my camera broke, my plants died at the end of the year when I ran out of time to pack, and well, it's hard to sustain life in a dorm room.
however, i've moved to --> exploringcfg.blogspot.com <-- to post about random bits and pieces of my life
my travels, my trials, my tribulations, my interests, etc.

Sorry it's been a while since I last posted! School has been extremely busy :( and my camera hasn't been working so I haven't been able to take pictures. But look how the plants have grown! I'm excited to hopefully see them bloom.

Pendant ce weekend
I don't know about you but my weekend was jam-packed. From about 8 am Friday morning until 11:30 Sunday morning I hardly had a moment to myself. I almost forgot to water my plants to be honest!
I spent all of Sunday writing a Native American studies paper and doing other work for my classes as well. Now it's already Tuesday, I can't believe how fast time goes by in college. I posted the pictures of the plants' progress in the post before this one. Enjoy, and until next time...au revoir! :)
My weekend went something along the lines of this:
4/8 - Friday
8 am - Woke up, had breakfast, showered, etc.
9 am - 12:30 pm: French, Native Studies, History classes
12:40 pm - 1:15 pm: Lunch
1:30 pm: Meeting with my academic advisor
2:30 pm - 4:30 pm: Cashed my check, went to CVS, picked up my package from Hinman mail center, and helped my friend Daryl fix her car
5:20 pm - 6:10 pm: French Drill (stressful and intense)
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm: got ready for Alpha Phi Alpha's Pharaoh's Ball with my best friend Autumn
8:30 pm - 11:00 pm: Pharaoh's Ball, lots of dancing and great finger food!
11:00 pm - 7:30 am: SLEEEEEEEEP
4/9 - Saturday
7:30 am: Rushed around very quickly to gather all of my things for the Brown Powwow
8:00 am - 11:00 am: Car ride to Providence with my Naddies (a slang term that Native Americans at Dartmouth [NADs] use for one another) Daryl, Saige, Tori, and Sami
12:00 pm - 7:00 pm: POWWOW TIME! :D with my Naddies plus Jose, Daryl's boyfriend
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm: Explored a bit of Providence; ate dinner at Chipotle, went to the Brown Bookstore (overpriced!), hung out at Starbucks, gave my leftovers to a homeless (I have never felt so good about a deed before, definitely felt the warm fuzzies)
9:00 pm - 12:00 am: Car ride back to the Big Green. Much singing ensued.
And then I slept until 11:30 am, something I haven't been able to do in a while :)

Post deux (4/7/11)
Bonjour!

It's amazing to see how much a plant and sprout can grow in 24 hours. Since I last took pictures of the marigolds and sunflowers, they've grown. Much thanks to the wonderful sunshine today. It's been pretty dreary in Hanover this week, so the sun was much appreciated. It makes you so much more motivated to accomplish tasks, do work, and just go outside. I even felt healthier today knowing the sky was completely blue with not one cloud up there. If you've ever woken up with the sun before, you know what I'm talking about. It feels completely natural for the sun to stream into my room and wake me up. That's not to say that I actually got out of bed at 6 am today though. :) I still like to sleep until the very last minute.
While I was looking for new containers to transplant my hosta to, I ran across this picture on Roberts Flowers' Facebook page and thought it was a great idea since I already have a Bigelow's can to use after I finish the tea in it. So I got to thinking about reusing materials for planting and gardening. I found some silly straws I had won during a musical chairs event in the fall and used them as plant markers. It's funny the things you find when you clean!
A bien tot!

First post of week one

When I first arrived to my dorm here at Dartmouth, there was only one word that came to mind: bland. The walls were off-white and bare, an awful combination. So, when I was given the chance to go pick up a free indoor plant from the local shop Roberts Flowers, I jumped at the chance. (Sidenote: Their dog, Dexter, is the sweetest, and fattest, dachshund ever!) They gave me a wonderful hosta that has been thriving the entire time I've had it...excluding winter break when it almost died because I had no one to water it. However, I did spend winter term nursing it back to health. It started out the first week of January with only two leaves after I cut the dead ones off. Now it's up to four leaves and working on five and six. Having the plant around, along
with the cute foam bird I bought, has been comforting for someone who hasn't had to live in a climate like Dartmouth's. Even the smallest green living thing was nice to see everyday. After being in Oklahoma for two weeks during my spring break, I realized how much I missed the process of seeing something grow from a seed to a full-grown plant or flower. So I went to CVS and bought two grow packs. One was marigolds and the other sunflowers. I planted them the day I redecorated my room (pictures of the redecorated side of the room later) on Saturday the 2nd. I didn't think that by Wednesday they'd already have sprouts! It must be due to my adorable Disney Princess watering can. :)

A demain! (French for until tomorrow)
