First post of week one

When I first arrived to my dorm here at Dartmouth, there was only one word that came to mind: bland. The walls were off-white and bare, an awful combination. So, when I was given the chance to go pick up a free indoor plant from the local shop Roberts Flowers, I jumped at the chance. (Sidenote: Their dog, Dexter, is the sweetest, and fattest, dachshund ever!) They gave me a wonderful hosta that has been thriving the entire time I've had it...excluding winter break when it almost died because I had no one to water it. However, I did spend winter term nursing it back to health. It started out the first week of January with only two leaves after I cut the dead ones off. Now it's up to four leaves and working on five and six. Having the plant around, along
with the cute foam bird I bought, has been comforting for someone who hasn't had to live in a climate like Dartmouth's. Even the smallest green living thing was nice to see everyday.
After being in Oklahoma for two weeks during my spring break, I realized how much I missed the process of seeing something grow from a seed to a full-grown plant or flower. So I went to CVS and bought two grow packs. One was marigolds and the other sunflowers. I planted them the day I redecorated my room (pictures of the redecorated side of the room later) on Saturday the 2nd. I didn't think that by Wednesday they'd already have sprouts! It must be due to my adorable Disney Princess watering can. :)

A demain! (French for until tomorrow)
